Your vehicle’s heating and cooling system doesn’t have anything to do with keeping you sweat-free in the summer time and warm in the winter.
When your engine runs, it produces a lot of heat. The cooling system keeps your engine running at a constant temperature by circulating a cool fluid through engine components. As it circulates, the cool fluid absorbs heat from the engine. From the engine, the fluid enters the radiator, which takes the heat from the fluid and transfers it to the air moving through the radiator.
Cooling system neglect is usually the catalyst for a vehicle’s mechanical failure. Signs your cooling system may need attention include overheating, leaks, the smell of antifreeze (a sweet smell), and the need to add more coolant to your vehicle.
If you suspect there’s a problem with your cooling system, stop in to your local Tuffy store. Our ASE-certified technicians will check your fluid levels and make sure your hoses and clamps are in good condition. If there’s a leak, or a part needs to be replaced, we’ll discuss your options with you before we do any work. |
